Presently, there are two groups within the SCA that provide volunteer sign language services. The first of which is the Sign Heralds (you're on their site now!), which is presently the largest and oldest (and as a result, the most well-known) community of volunteer signers within the SCA. The second is the Voices of the Populace, mostly based out of the West Kingdom since (year?) but has since been growing into other kingdoms. Both volunteer communities have been working together so 1) individuals looking for signing services can find signers in different kingdoms, and 2) individuals looking to become volunteer signers can find the resources and people they need within each Kingdom to get started.
Now, some kingdoms do not have yet have any Sign Heralds or Emissaries from Voices of the Populace, meaning there are no (known) volunteer signers working in these kingdoms. To help aid these Kingdoms in finding, organizing, and educating volunteers, this page is here to help provide some of the steps needed to get started through either/both of these signing groups!
