New Editors ALWAYS Welcome!!
If any non-signing SCAdian would like to contribute to the SCA Sign Dictionaries with words commonly spoken in their hobby groups (for example, sewers can contribute words to sewing vocabulary for people who are not sewers or don't regularly work with fabric, what the heck is a 'bias?'), please contact Nicasia Leontodes via Facebook messenger (preferred contact method) or via SCA email at 249551@members.eastkingdom.org. Having information like this can aid a Signer in preparing for translating (not interpreting through licensure) things like classes at events if they're aware of some upcoming commonly spoken words and their meanings ahead of time.
If any signing SCAdian would like to have editing access to editing the Sign Herald’s website to provide more for their signed language (American Sign Language or any of the other signed languages of Drachenwald, Lochac, West Kingdom, or East Kingdom) or provide more information about their SCA Signing Group (such as Voices of the Populace), please contact Nicasia Leontodes via the same links above.
Editing only requires that you have your own Google account (SCA email is a Google system, you may use this if you do not wish to share a personal gmail account).
Regardless of whether you are a Signer or a non-Signer, if there is any wrong information on a page (someone was misgendered or changed their gender since the page was made, someone's office title is incorrect, a different picture would be preferred, etc), PLEASE do not hesitate to reach out to get this correction made if you do not have editing access while reading the site.
If you are not tech savvy or feel overwhelmed about editing a website, please contact Nicasia and she can make these edits on your behalf.
“The code is more what you'd call 'guidelines' than actual rules.”
The general goal is for SCAdians to be able to edit their own Kingdom's pages so everyone in the Society can stay up-to-date with what is happening in each Kingdom.
The other pages where all are welcome to edit are the language-learning resources, lesson materials, and particularly the SCA Signed Dictionaries of each signed language (ONLY contribute links to sign videos if you sign in that language. Otherwise, if you speak the spoken language of the country, you can help by listing baronies or awards from your Kingdom website or even common words in certain hobby areas of the Society (like 'bias' in sewing)
Regarding any Signed Dictionary, leave it to the Signers to either attach a link to an already-made video from an online dictionary or create a reference video (think Classifiers in ASL) to things that may be commonly signed.
All are welcome to add to the "Signing News in the Society!" page, just ensure what you are adding is added to the top of the page (below the page's title and picture) so that older posts can be found as people scroll to the bottom of the page.
A Note from the Creator of SignHeraldsOfTheSCA.com
I will continue to edit any and all pages based on my goal of keeping the pages relatively uniform across the site (font, size, color, some layout, etc). I will not be directly in charge of your pages, because that responsibility belongs to you!
Yours in Service,
Lady Nicasia Leontodes
